Looks at five factors of sperm health
- Volume: Semen plays a crucial role in carrying sperm through the reproductive tract. Producing the right amount means giving sperm the best chance at reaching the ovum for fertilization.
- Concentration: Sperm concentration helps contextualize the relationship between your unique volume and count. The right ratio can be as important an indicator of fertility as a high sperm count.
- Morphology: A sperm’s shape affects its ability to both reach and fertilize an egg—this metric helps you understand what percentage of your sperm have a natural shape and what abnormalities there might be.
- Count: Not only does a healthy sperm count improve your chances of conception, it’s also a great indicator of your overall health.
- Motility: Sperm that move naturally and efficiently have the best chance of reaching the ovum for fertilization.
Learn more about the Legacy At-home Sperm Analysis
Legacy helps men test their sperm without having to visit a doctor's office.
Legacy is the fatherhood company, helping men test or freeze their sperm without having to visit a doctor's office. Incubated at Harvard University, Legacy is run by a team of healthcare and fertility experts who believe in changing the outdated view that fertility is a 'women's issue.' Legacy is available nationwide for men or couples thinking about family planning or fertility preservation.
The Legacy At-home Sperm Analysis is as accurate as an in-clinic analysis.
Legacy works with leading labs to analyze the same factors as a traditional fertility clinic, including volume, count, concentration, motility, and morphology. They also provide doctor-validated, personalized recommendations for you to improve your sperm.
If you are using their overnight shipping method, you can expect to see a slight decrease in motility of approximately ~10% on average, which will be reflected in your analysis results.
This analysis looks at sperm health across five factors: volume, count, concentration, motility, and morphology.
None of these factors independently mean you are fertile or infertile, these are simply indicators and should be considered holistically. Men completely within the normal ranges may face challenges with having children, while men below the normal ranges may have no issues at all. The analysis can also tell you if you are unable to produce sperm, a condition known as azoospermia. Azoospermia affects about 1% of the male population and is treatable in around 50% of cases.
In addition to the sperm analysis, you will receive personalized recommendations tailored to your lifestyle, nutrition, exercise habits, and other circumstances that are unique to you.
Legacy follows the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for the examination and processing of semen.
Your full sperm analysis (spermogram) looks at count, concentration, volume, motility at time of analysis, and a full morphology assessment for the first sample. The report is given according to the latest WHO 5th criteria.
