Our urine, early result pregnancy test strips, also known as hCG level test strips, are over 99% accurate at predicting pregnancy at 3 days before the day of the missed period.
In earlier stages, a pregnant woman may not be producing enough hCG for the test to detect. This is why the test result is less accurate the earlier you take it. hCG can only be detected in urine after the embryo implants itself in the uterine wall, which occurs between the sixth and tenth day post-fertilization. At five days before an expected period, an embryo may have just implanted and hCG hormone production may not have yet increased enough to meet the test’s detection threshold. Early on in pregnancy hCG levels rise rapidly, doubling every two days. The closer you are to your missed period, the more reliable your early detection results will be.

Commonly asked questions about the Natalist Pregnancy Test
How do I use these strip pregnancy tests?
- Unwrap one Natalist Early Pregnancy Test Strip and hold it by the green handle.
- Pee into a cup, and place the cup on a flat surface.
- Dip the test strip vertically into the cup of urine for at least 15 seconds. Be careful not to let urine get above the max line when dipping the test strip!
- Place the home pregnancy test strip on a flat surface and wait five minutes before reading your result.
When should I take a pregnancy test?
Short answer: For most accurate results, we recommend using Natalist Early Pregnancy Test Strips three days before the start of your next period.
How do I know the pregnancy test is working?
The control test line will turn pink to let you know everything is functioning properly with the actual test! Two pink test lines will indicate a positive test result.
What does a negative result mean?
If you've taken an at-home test and received a negative pregnancy test result, it could be due to several possibilities:
- The test didn’t detect hCG, the pregnancy hormone
- It's too early to test; the hCG levels in your body at that time may not be sufficient
- The pregnancy test’s sensitivity level is low
We recommend waiting a few days and retesting to account for early testing or allowing your body to increase hCG levels as pregnancy progresses.
Why wait for a few more days before retesting?
Waiting a few more days before retesting is important because it allows your body to produce more hCG, the pregnancy hormone. In the early stages of pregnancy, your hCG levels may be too low for the pregnancy test strips to detect. Allowing time for your body to increase hCG levels provides a more accurate result.
Are the wrappers recyclable?

Can drinking a lot of water affect your test results?
While it is super important to stay hydrated, keep in mind that drinking a large quantity of liquid in the few hours before taking a urine pregnancy test can dilute your collected urine and cause a false negative result. If you’re testing before your expected period, we recommend that you test first thing in the morning (morning urine has a higher concentration of hCG) if you tend to drink a lot of water throughout the day.
